Department Background

The Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPEP) is divided into 2 divisions and 1 unit as follows:

Administration and Finance Unit

Manages the administration and financial matters of the Department.

Privatization Division

Coordinates the procurement and implementation of privatization projects.
Determines the direction/policy/guidelines for land suitability to be developed for privatization projects through land sales, joint ventures, land swaps, and leases.
Processes transfer applications for residential/commercial units that have not yet acquired strata status.

Development Division

Prepares and reports the outcome of development projects that have been implemented.
Plans, monitors, coordinates, prepares, and allocates the development budget for projects that are to be implemented.
Manages issues related to the structure and settlement of squatters.
Manages and monitors the status of Bumiputera quota properties and coordinates the release applications for Bumiputera quota units.
Coordinates infrastructure development and supply for Small Projects.

Objective

To create a world-class city of Kuala Lumpur that is advanced, beautiful, prosperous, and has its own unique identity, based on planning strategies aimed at providing infrastructure, socio-economic development, and social facilities, while enhancing the quality of life in terms of socio-culture and a people-friendly environment.

Functions

Coordinate the preparation of development budgets and the allocation of financial resources for development projects;
Coordinate and monitor the implementation of privatization development projects;
Evaluate the progress and achievements of development and privatization projects;
Identify and conduct socio-economic research studies;
Coordinate actions and feedback with social and political institutions, as well as government and private agencies outside DBKL.
