The result of the formation of a new government agency in solid waste management ie Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning Corporation (PPSPPA)on01 June 2008, all aspects of solid waste management and public cleaning as well as related matters, transferred responsibility from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). The agency was established under the jurisdictionMinistry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

PPSPPA's role is to ensure more efficient, integrated solid waste management and public cleaning services while providing better satisfaction to users in terms of solid waste management and public cleaning services.
