On 29 October 2015, the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Construction of Taman Pudu Ulu Phase 2 was launched by YB. Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor, Minister of Federal Territories.
The development of Phase 2 of this park was inaugurated on 10 April 2017 and was inaugurated by YB. Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor, Minister of Federal Territories.
Taman Pudu Ulu was first proposed in 1997 but stalled due to the economic turmoil that hit at that time. Due to the problem, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall had to reduce the cost of spending in this development project. In 1998, DBKL worked on this project little by little which was leveling the project site area and planting trees as a tree bank area.
End of 1999 Millennium Planting of 700 trees organized by the National Landscape Department. The Supreme Management Council of Kuala Lumpur City Hall has ordered that this park project be reviewed in terms of site conditions and the development concept to be tendered again in 2000. At the end of 2000 DBKL implemented the construction of a rugby field in the park area.
The development concept of Taman Pudu Ulu is based on the needs of water recreation and leisure time. Taman Pudu Ulu also has the first 'wading pool' built by DBKL in a public park and open for free to citizens.
This development was created with facilities characteristic of Metropolitan Park and even designed for all ages from children, teenagers, adults and the elderly. Facilities for the elderly and people with disabilities 'OKU' are also given serious attention in the development concept for this park.
The development of this park is also in line with Kuala Lumpur City Hall's desire to provide more facilities and recreational areas for local residents and increase green areas in Kuala Lumpur.
For those who are interested in organizing 'outdoor' activities such as Family Day, Photography and others, can make reservations through the Department of Landscape Development and Recreation (Mrs. Esah at 013-2025266).
The park is open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. every day. Visitors are expected to comply with the 2012 Park Bylaws to ensure everyone's comfort.
